The Impact of visitor’s on Cayuga County’s Economy
Visitors directly spend an estimated $144 million in food, lodging, retail, recreation and entertainment purchases. Tourism generates $588 in local tax relief per household, and is responsible for nearly 1,500 jobs. Additionally, .20 cents of every dollar spent by visitors stays in Cayuga County.
The tourism industry affects economic development and job creation. Tourism employment in Cayuga County sustains and retains 1,470 jobs with over $39.7 million in paid wages and salaries to tourism industry employees.

Certified by Travel Unity (CBTU) is the travel and tourism industry’s only certification program for visitor-facing organizations that validates visitor-facing organizations’ efforts around diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI).
